So this calendar is less a hazard map than a weather almanac. Here’s the whole year, then the parts actually worth marking.

The full 2027 calendar

Two retrogrades are already running as the year opens — Jupiter (since December 13, 2026) and Uranus (since September 10, 2026) — so January begins with the sky mid-review. Every station of the year, in order:

Uranus’s September station doesn’t resolve inside the year — it stays retrograde until February 12, 2028 — so 2027 closes exactly as it opened, with the sky mid-review.

Mercury: three windows, all in water

Mercury is the one to actually keep on a calendar, and 2027 gives it a tidy signature: all three retrogrades station in water signs.

• February 9 – March 3 — stations in Pisces, backs into Aquarius.
• June 10 – July 4 — stations in Cancer, backs into Gemini.
• October 7 – 28 — stations in Scorpio, backs into Libra.

Three roughly three-week windows, spaced about four months apart — Mercury’s ordinary rhythm of three to four retrogrades a year. The water-sign pattern means 2027’s communication reviews tend to land on the emotional register — what was felt and left unsaid — rather than the purely logistical. Mars: the personal-planet retrograde that opens the year

Mars is already deep in its retrograde as 2027 begins — it stationed back on January 10 at 10°26′ Virgo and doesn’t turn around until April 1, at 20°56′ Leo. This is the once-every-26-months Mars retrograde, the slow audit of drive and anger, and it’s the reason the first quarter of the year feels like effort spent re-treading old ground. After April 1, Mars is direct until 2029 — the personal planets are then quiet for the rest of the year.

The slow planets, and the October pile-up

Jupiter, Saturn, Uranus, Neptune and Pluto each take their annual four-to-five-month turn — background weather, not events. They matter only where a station degree lands on something in your chart. Their overlapping schedules do produce one dramatic-looking moment: from October 8 to 17, five planets are retrograde at once — Mercury, Saturn, Uranus, Neptune and Pluto. If a “five planets retrograde!” headline crosses your feed in October, this is it, and given the base rates it’s arithmetic, not an omen. It resolves the moment Pluto turns direct on the 17th.

Venus takes the year off

The most useful thing about Venus in 2027 is what doesn’t happen: Venus is not retrograde at any point in the year. Its previous retrograde ran October–November 2026, and the next one doesn’t arrive until May 2028 — Venus retrogrades only every ~19 months, the least of any planet. So relationships and money get a clean run, retrograde-wise, all year.

The 25 days the sky is fully direct

Every planet points forward at the same time for exactly one stretch in 2027: roughly April 13 to May 8, the gap between Jupiter turning direct and Pluto turning retrograde. Twenty-five days. That’s the real rarity the word “retrograde” hides — not the retrogrades, which fill the other 340 days, but the clear sky, which shows up for three and a half weeks and leaves. A tradition that treated retrograde as stop would have almost no green light to work with; the healthier reading is that retrograde is simply the sky’s default proofreading mode, and forward motion is the pause between passes.
